Man in search of God

God Almighty has concealed the seed of His recognition in the chemistry of human race. In the favorable climate of heart and soul, it nourishes and grows into a tall tree but in the adverse circumstances all attempts of its growth go to the wall and the soil of heart remains barren where the shrubs of worldly desires raise their heads and ultimately take the man in the valley of sin, physical and mental unrest. Since the very dawn of his creation, man had been trying to seek and love his creator. He remained busy in search of his God but multitudes of people diverted their way and made their aspirations, cravings, and delights, their God. Those who stepped forward for the right faith without the divine light entered into the deep and dark world of confusions.

Man has always remained the captive of his senses. He could not accept the vague and abstract concept of his Lord. He wanted to bow before; whom he could touch, feel, and even see with his own eyes. Therefore, the big and heavenly bodies like sun and the moon were the favorite to satisfy his quest and they were accepted as God in some parts of the world. Every big and strange thing was given the status of Lord, the snake and elephant are the examples in this respect. It was the utmost desire of man to see his creator in material shape; therefore, he made idols for worship and a new institution of idolatry was introduced among most of the world population.

The thinking remained active behind the concept of God that the universe is large and it is hard to check by a single power. Probably it was the sympathy of man towards his lord. Man thought it better idea that many gods are performing various duties in this universe to maintain the systematic flow of life on this planet. We can see the very tendency among the Greeks, which is considered the source of knowledge and learning in this modern era. They had many gods even for each important thing there was a god to handle. They went a step ahead to others in their love for God and articulated goddesses for gods to refrain them from solitude. Therefore, God was the mixture of misconceptions in Greece. The physical power was considered under the god Hercules whereas love was in the jurisdiction of Cupid. Similarly, many gods and goddesses were worshiped enthusiastically in their sacred temples and they were more than contented in this respect.

Persia was the country where fire was considered as God and large houses were made where fire remained burning twenty-four hours and people bowed and put their heart desires before their Lord. This practice remained there for centuries and humanity could not found the ultimate and the finest reality of this universe. Arabia was too indulged in idolatry and Kaaba, which was the house of God, was dotted with more than three hundred idols. Buddha in India was searching God who perhaps finally found Him and named it the tranquility. A long and troublesome exercise was undergone and he got the peace of mind for which he had left the crown and a luxurious life. His struggle in the way of his Lord was met with fruit at last. These were the different concepts of God in the different parts of the world. Anyhow, we found the acceptance of God in what form it might be true or false. The shadow of presence of God stood side by side the humans and they never denied His presence.

The most modern mind like Bertrand Russell denied the greatest and the most delicate reality by saying that God has no sense data therefore God is non-sense. He demands the material proof of this vague concept in this ultramodern age. He is of the view that God does not make space for Him in this logical and mathematical world. There are philosophers who say God is nothing more than a word that man has made for his consolation. Man was in need of a great thing to which he might obey and held responsible for his failures. These elegant words used for creator have nothing to do with reality.

All these approaches do not have a solid base; these are misunderstood thoughts having no relation with the research and dedicated work about the presence of God. Professor Ahmed Rafiq Akthar retaliates about all these objections. Invisibility of God does not mean that He does not exist. Many things we cannot see but they exist. So for as the sense data of the Lord he says the Holy Quran, the last book of God, is the complete data of God. The book categorically declares its claim and invites mankind to step forward and check the data of God and you are free for denial if it proves wrong. Man remains man after a lot of mistakes and blunders but God cannot remain God after a single mistake. The book of God is an open challenge for the people who want to research about Lord.

All the material shapes in the form of idols or our mental speculations about God are not true. The true and right way to seek the creator is the way of prophets. Their knowledge is divine knowledge direct from God and the concept can only be understood when we follow the footsteps of prophets. Their teaching can only lead you towards the ultimate reality of the universe because God Almighty has concealed the seed of his recognition and love in the chemistry of humans. The knowledge of prophets provides the favorable climate of heart and soul and man’s struggle for God ends at the door of our creator.
