I see an un-ending
panorama of different forms of life before me. I feel an invisible thread,
which is responsible to keep harmony and compatibility among the worldly things
and people. When I look at the objects of nature, the sun, the moon and stars,
all are bound to follow a strict routine. The seasons throughout the
year set in and off automatically. The hot summer is followed by the wet and
suffocating rainy season. The fascinating beauty of spring and charming sights
of autumn come after each other without any human effort.
Similarly, people of
this world are in close co-operation with one another without wishing to do so.
I do not know whether they extend their helping hand for their own benefit or really
to help their fellow beings. I step out of my house daily and find rickshaws
waiting for me at the roadside. By the dawn, buses, wagons and school vans can
be seen running on the roads. Who does compel them to do so? The working class,
the travelers, the school going children hurry to catch their vehicle of
transport.
The vehicles containing
bread, buns, butter, jam and other breakfast commodities rush towards the
market. The bakeries are crowded with people with the first ray of sun. As
we switch on the TV, the news and the other entertainment programs start
as if they were waiting for us. The butchers fetch fresh meat and hang the
attractive chunks at the front of their shop. Who does force them to do all
this for us?
Teachers hurry to school
whether it is rain or sun. The students also attend their classes in time. The
courts work when the culprit are brought before the judges. The lawyers plead
their clients enthusiastically. The offices are crowded with people who come to
have their complaints addressed. The officers and their subordinates help the
people in solving their knotty and weighty problems.
The food streets are
full of shopkeepers. They make food arrangement to serve their customers. They
place chairs and tables in open air and serve their customers with a little
smile on their face. It is not only associated with the big cities. The
vendors of the town also prepare for their customers. People pay
visits at both the places and enjoy the taste of delicious meals. The cooks are
praised for their delicious recipes.
The people who wish to
travel around the world or a specific country arrange for their trips and go
straight to the airports. The staff at the airport is ready to serve them.
Airlines make the travel attractive by announcing various incentives. The guides
offer their services to the tourists. The taxi drivers also approach them to serve.
The train stops at the railway station, the crowded platform looks
deserted in no time. Thus, passengers leave for their destinations.
The sweepers clean the
roads and streets every morning. The milkman reaches our doors. The housemaids
come to lend you a helping hand. The gardener keeps your orchards well-trimmed
and loaded with flowers of eye-catching colors. The laborers with their
tools stand at their locations to be picked up by the people who are interested
in construction. Well-reputed restaurants wait for your phone calls. Within no time,
they are at your doors for delivery, after you call them. If you got problem
with your electricity system, they people from the powerhouse come at once for
your help. When your washroom tap leaks, the plumber is at your disposal
What philosophy goes
behind all the above situations? As I understand it, this is a high degree
mutual co-operation of the members of our society. No body compels anyone, but
they are present before you with their services. This strong co-operation
is the great blessing of God and is the backbone of our society. We can
have anything we need. The spirit of co-operation is just like ‘life’ in living
organisms. If the mutual co-operation and harmony takes its way out, then
nothing will go right and a chaos will prevail on human society. All the beauty,
which owes to compatibility, will change to devastation. Human being will
cry for their petty and trivial needs.
Imagine if milkman does
not come one morning or Rickshaw drivers refuse to serve for one day. The van
containing breakfast items does not reach. The builders do not reach the
construction site. Aero planes cancel their domestic and international
flights. The day will be a ‘Black Day’ in human history and will prove an
anguishing and painful trail for all of us. The life will become uneasy, loathsome
and miserable without mutual co-operation in society. This is a great blessing
of Almighty Allah for humanity.
To sum up, we can say
that cooperation and inter-dependence is the very backbone of society and a
blessing in disguise. We do not realize the importance of a blessing until we
miss it.
